The contribution will be published in GIREP2004 Proceedings, which consist of extended abstract book and CD with full length texts. Only the accepted and presented contributions will be published.

In the abstract, the outline of your contributuion should be explained using clear words and its length should not exceed 200 words. The detailed instruction about abstract preparation can be find in sample copy.

The manuscript for GIREP 2004 Conference has to be prepared according to the described rules. The length of the contribution is limited according to the cathegory:

General Lectures and Workshop reports no limit
Full length contribution 2 pages
Short contribution 1 page

The guidelines for the Proceedings are in the sample copy prepared using MS Word.

Structure of the conference

Plenary lectures are on current problems that are solved in many countries and have to be solved on international forum. Themes are: interdisciplinary approach to teaching/learning physics as results from physics, physics distance education, information and communication technology in physics education, and physics introductory courses at universities. Invited speakers are from all over the world.

Sections details can be find here.

Panel discussion as a continuation of plenary lectures with information about state in different countries.

Working groups and workshops (themes): Computer based experiments, hand on experiment, exploitation of physics in different types of technologies, investigation of waterand air around us, etc.

Poster sessions will be included in programme.

Language

The official language for GIREP2004 is English.

Halls of Residence in the Campus of Technical University Ostrava, where GIREP2004 is to be held. Breakfast included in the price.

Foreword

The International Conference of GIREP 2004 „Teaching and Learning Physics in New Contexts“ will include physics and the physics teaching/learning process as they concern ecology, climate, biology, biophysics, chemistry, medicine, industry, economy, arts, and all processes that can improve our life conditions from the point of view of physics.

Research in physics education is included into programme. Themes that concern the impact of educational research on physics teaching/learning process, interactive tutorial-based online laboratory, learning environment that will make an introductory physics course at the college level accessible to anyone as result from research, physics distance education etc.

Transformation processes in teaching/learning physics: Changes are in secondary school education, in physics introductory courses at universities, distance education is phenomenon of everyday life, and interdisciplinary of physics has to be taken into account in new curricula of physics and new branches of physics.

Participants of the conference will be physicists, physics teachers engaged in education of physics, and scientific workers in physics with new ideas for teaching/learning process. Conference is open to all of them.
